Amaya Review and Overview
Creating a knowledgebase style or wiki-style webpage requires a proper structure and easy to navigate interface. It should be appropriately indexed by search engines to get better traffic. There is a lot of software that allows users to create such webpages using the WYSIWYG methodology. They can write the textual content and add images to a document style page. Then the software converts it into webpages by generating proper HTML and CSS tags according to the formatting done by the user. W3's Amaya is such a web development software that enables users to create webpages, and it is built on Thot application framework.
The main features of Amaya
Amaya is a web authoring and browsing tool at the same time. It uses the tested HTML editor tools to help users to author webpages. They can see the changes in the code in real-time using the WYSIWYG panels. Copypaste content from the internet and create hyperlinks to other webpages easily. The editing and browsing are carried out using the same tools. It uses a consistent document formatting setup that adheres to the DTD.
The internal structure of Pages created is using the Document Type Definition or DTD. It enables data processing by other website tools safe and quick. It allows processing and viewing of multiple file formats like MathML, XHTML, and SVG simultaneous, while not being harsh on system resources.
The hyperlink creation feature lets you create links from the current working document to any other webpage on the internet. Any weblink or image can be interconnected to the material easily.
HTTPS transport and access
It accesses external websites connected to the document using the HTTP/1.1 protocol. The remote site access is performed using the libwww implementation by W3C. The software supports the use of advanced HTTP technologies to improve the connection experience. This includes content negotiation to fetch the appropriate picture format for the particular display type. The use of Keep-Alive decreases bandwidth usage and connection requests by staying connected for a more extended period.
The secure authentication feature also allows a safe and faster remote-based publishing service. All these features aim at improving the overall user experience.
Support for MathML and SVG formats
Amaya allows browsing and editing of webpages containing complex mathematical expressions. These are done using specific tools in the Amaya editing panel. The MathML format is a markup data format which parses elements typed into it as separate mathematical expressions and generates proper formatting for them. These are integrated with the HTML page using namespaces.
The application supports the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format, and it provides resizable vector graphic objects that do not change quality when it is modified. The alpha values and animations can be included and can be modified anytime.
