ATLAS.ti Review and Overview
Atlas.ti is a set of complex tools to fulfill any needs in qualitative analysis. When it comes to the files supported by Atlas.ti, users can input MS word files, text files, ODT, and even PDF files. Media files like MP3, WAV, MP4, AVI, WMV, etc. are also supported. Users can directly input data from other sites like Twitter and Evernote.
Atlas.ti Basic Features
The process for coding is also simple, using a drag and drop interface. Advanced data linking and visualization are also possible here. It also has unique solutions for interactive margin areas and quotation levels. The supported languages in Atlas.ti are Unicode, and most other character set languages. It also helps in teamwork with the collaborative features.
Atlas.ti offers two main product versions, viz., Desktop, and Cloud. There are some minor differences in both versions. However, the cloud interface does lack some format support and extra tools. In the Atlas.ti Desktop, most of the data types for media, documents, survey data, geo, etc. are supported. The desktop version can also import from Twitter, associated documents, text searches, and offer word file support. On the contrary, the cloud version merely supports text editing and Unicode support.
Atlas.ti Coding Features
Under the Coding section, Atlas.ti Desktop offers preset codes, open coding, In-vivo coding, and quick coding. Some operations like merging, grouping, and splitting codes are supported too. The cloud version here lacks In-vivo coding and splitting functions. As for coding, automated support can search codes or texts, suggest synonyms, and use focus groups to speed up the searches. It has user management, team collaboration, and inter-code agreements. Advanced comments and memos can also be inserted here.
As for advanced analysis, it uses query code data, Boolean operators, co-occurrence analysis, and cross-tabulation. Users can link various network entities and even make hyperlinks. Reports can be generated in Excel format, Word, or PDF files. It can even import projects from sources like iPad projects, Android projects, etc. Atlas.ti is a trustworthy and advanced solution for most qualitative and quantitative data analytics.
