Rocket.Chat Review and Overview
Rocket Chat app comes in two primary forms of subscriptions, viz., Self-Managed, and SaaS. In the Self-Managed Subscriptions, Rocket Chat offers plans like Community, Pro, and Enterprise. The community plans are meant for teams and cost nothing. The Pro plan is priced from $3 to $30/user/year. The Enterprise edition plans are customized as per the business needs.
Rocket Chat App Overview
Self-Managed Plans are hosted on the company’s cloud servers. The critical features seen here are deployment, chat features, Omnichannel, proxy servers, admin tools/resources, and other add-ons. As for the chat features, the community plan restricts it to 1000 users, whereas the paid plans support unlimited users. The community plan lacks deployment tools like high scalability cluster and file storage migration.
The Omni Channel tools are also restricted in the Enterprise plan only. It has some unique tools like canned responses, waiting queues, advanced agent routing, etc. The features of preset proxy servers are also limited in Community Plans. As for the admin and security setup, Rocket Chat offers analytics reporting, multifactor authentications, and customized user roles/permissions. It also supports secure LDAP or active directory and a real-time engagement panel.
Rocket Chat Pro Features
Additionally, the Pro and Enterprise plans include some extra items like call onboarding, migration assistance, and Atlassian Integration Bundle. Now, under the chat features, we get some of the traditional tools. Rocket Chat here offers message history, private/public channels, broadcast channels, and conferencing servers. These servers can either be dedicated or shared. They include custom branding, custom domains, live streaming, and a message auditing panel.
Comparatively, the SaaS plans are for businesses looking to use the Rocket Chat Cloud hosting instead of their personal servers. These are divided as Bronze, Silver and Gold Plans. They are priced max from $20, $40, to customized pricing. The intended users are alike the self-managed plans. The applications are supported over desktop OS like Windows, macOS, and Linux. They have mobile apps on both Android and iOS. Rocket Chat is suitable as an open-source and as a business chat interface too.
