Things Review and Overview
Planning is an essential part of our lives. It makes us become more productive and calculated regarding how our life should go on in the future. We are able to perform better and remember our schedule when it is planned and worked out beforehand. It ensures a sense of confidence in our minds and makes us ready for everything that we face. The basic building block of productive thinking is proper planning, and this makes us better in managing the problems that we encounter during our daily life. Things is an application for iOS and MacBook that ensures better planning and management of our day-to-day tasks. It is essentially a refined to-do list application with the minimal user interface, which makes things easy and allows them to focus on their plans.
Refined design and interface making it easy for use
The all-new user interface of Things is perfectly aligned with the concept of minimalism. There is absolutely no clutter in the user interface, as the developers have made it a point to ensure better focus on planning the day rather than getting lost in the interface. This simple design allows the app to be lightweight while retaining the core functionality. The animations while interacting with the interface are smooth and fluid. The content feels more structured than what it was in previous versions.
The to-do list creation is considered as the basic building block of the planning process. The to-do list, when opened, turns into a clear white paper style interface that aims to provide a smoother experience for the user. Add more details or use checklist functions to tick off completed tasks. There are no intended distractions in the user interface, as it's plain and simple.
The configurable magic plus button for easy functions
The plus button works more than just a new note creation button. It is draggable and can be placed anywhere else on the screen, and the position shall be retained the next time the user opens the application. The most prominent function will be creating a new to-do list and placing it somewhere convenient for better access. It can create headings for the agenda by tapping and holding it to the upper left margin and then let it go.
The drop to inbox feature enables users to send a new note directly to the inbox no matter wherever the list is located. It can be performed using a single and consistent gesture without leaving the currently open to-do list. Just drag the magic plus button and then leave it on the inbox target, which will appear on the left side. The intuitive gesture-based navigation ensures a consistent and easy method to access the feature of the plus button.
Quick finder and Jumpstart
The quick finder feature lets users search and find the lists faster. Just swipe down on the list and then start typing to find tags, text, and other objects within the plan. The search suggestions are updated instantly upon the keystrokes, ensuring a quicker search function as promised. This is due to the minimal design and lightweight code that is used in the source of the application. The app-wide tag searching tool detects when the user types a tag and then categorizes them to find them later.
Jumpstart is another smart feature that allows users to set dates and plans quickly without even opening the Things interface. It helps users to schedule tasks and put all answers in a single location. Add lists with just a swipe on the popover and set the timings, add today's plans and tomorrow's plans, and also put things on hold for another day. With the powerful natural language recognition engine, it can understand short forms and compensate for them.
